Global food giant Nestle is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in Techno Park, a Dubai-based science park, after signing an agreement with Jebel Ali Free Zone and Economic Zones World.
Nestle has leased some 100,000 sq m of land in Techno Park and the first phase of the development is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.
Nestle established a base at Jebel Ali Free Zone in 1997 and the development at Techno Park is expected to strengthen the company’s presence in the region.
Jean-Louis Chaumeil, chairman and chief executive officer, Nestle Middle East FZE, said: “The base of Middle East operations in the Jebel Ali Free Zone has enabled Nestle to successfully cater to the needs of the entire region.
“Nestle’s expansion into Techno Park is a testament to the growth and expansion it enjoys in Dubai, and in partnership with Jafza. We are also proud to be part of the industrial development of Dubai.”
Salma Hareb, CEO of Jebel Ali Free Zone and Economic Zones World added that Nestle has been a longstanding partner of Jafza, and its expansion into Techno Park is a mark of its success in Dubai and the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
Nestle Middle East was set up in 1997 in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, and serves the Middle East market through its regional headquarters in Jafza in Dubai.
Techno Park offers investors and research and development organisations state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to help them pursue their latest developments.
Techno Park Dubai is a member of the International Association of Science Parks and works closely with the International Desalination Association. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
