New Ernst & Young chief eyes 'untapped opportunities'

New MENA chairman, CEO upbeat about post global downturn environment.

New Ernst & Young chief eyes 'untapped opportunities'

The new man in charge of Ernst & Young in the Middle East and North Africa has said he sees "untapped opportunities" in the region.

Abdulaziz Al Sowailim has been announced as the new chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young MENA with immediate effect.

He has been with Ernst & Young for more than 22 years and will lead "ambitious growth plans" for over 4,200 of Ernst & Young’s people across 20 offices in 15 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the road ahead, Al Sowailim said: “The global economy underwent many fundamental changes, with the markets going through some very painful correction phases.

"Now is the phase of untapped opportunities. Only those willing to think ahead and differently will be in a position to survive, grow and succeed.”

He added: “I am honoured to have been chosen for this role and confident that with the active collaboration of our people, we are already on the path to growth."
