New Order are heading to Dubai for the first time to play at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on April 7.

Formed in 1980 from the remains of punk group Joy Division, the band blew up in the 80s and 90s for their electronic music that fused post-punk rock and synth-pop beats. Fans will be able to hear tracks like Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith and Thieves Like Us. Those less familiar with the group’s music are bound to recognize catchy hit Blue Monday – which broke records to become the best-selling 12-inch single of all time.

Today, the band is made up of Bernard Sumner on lead vocals, Stephen Morris on drums, Gillian Gilbert and Phil Cunningham on keyboard and guitar and Tom Chapman on the bass. After laying low for ten years following the release of the 2005 studio album Waiting for the Sirens’ Call, the band exploded back onto the scene in 2015 with a brand new album, Music Complete, and a refreshed sound that featured vocals from likes of Iggy Pop and Elly Jackson of La Roux.

The Dubai show, presented by DXB Live, will kick off their Easter Tour, which also includes appearances at Radio City Hall in New York and Coachella music festival.

“New Order have always looked forward, both musically and culturally, so taking our tour to Dubai makes total sense to us,” says lead singer Bernard Sumner. “It’s been a long time coming, so we’re looking forward to exploring and playing to a new crowd!”

Tickets are priced starting at Dhs349 and available at www.platinumlist.net.
