New records for SIGEP that knows no frontiers

The 29th International Exhibition of artisan Gelato, Confectionary, and Bakery production (SIGEP) conference concluded in January 2008 was the most successful to date according to a spokesperson for the event.

The 29th International Exhibition of artisan Gelato, Confectionary, and Bakery production (SIGEP) conference concluded in January 2008 was the most successful to date according to a spokesperson for the event.

The five-day exhibition took place in Rimini, Italy and showcased the very latest in raw materials, basic products, machinery, furnishings and fittings for artisan ice cream and bakery trades.

"On the international front, the overall success is even more notable, since a great deal of effort and large investments were behind the increase of the expo´s international profile. Organising events able to attract foreign trade members and concentrating on the promotional front, with the expansion of the network of SIGEP agents who support the expo worldwide, like real ambassadors," commented Rimini Fiera Chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni.
The expo had an increase of 3% of visitors on 2007, the final audit indicating a total of 95,357 over the week-long exhibition. Foreign trade visitors totaled 15,563, which was an 8% increase on last year's SIGEP conference.

The conference was conducted in 14 halls covering a total of 90,000m2, where 722 exhibitors showcased their products from more than 150 countries.

Due to SIGEP's success and popularity, organisers Rimini Fiera announced plans for a USA based exhibition with American partner, Frozen Desserts USA scheduled for September 2008.

The US SIGEP will be conducted annually alternating between Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
