New swine flu case reported in Kuwait

Ministry of Health comfirms Kuwaiti girl arriving from Thailand tests positive for H1N1 virus.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed another case of swine flu - bringing the total number of cases to 25.Official ministry spokesman Dr. Yousef Al-Nisf told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that lab tests confirmed that a Kuwaiti girl returning from Thailand had contracted the H1N1 virus and will receive the necessary treatment in a hospital, noting that her condition is stable.

Al-Nisf added that those who were in close contact with the girl would be screened as a precautionary measure according to guidance stipulated by the World Health Organization, noting that this is the fifth case to be reported to a child less than 16 years of age.

He assured that all the swine flu cases are in good health, adding that 20 infected cases have already left the hospital. He added the remainder of infected individuals are stable and will be leaving hospital.
