NPCC wins a major Indian offshore project

In a deal worth US $388 million, Indian-based Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has given the go ahead for the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) to develop the C-Series field in Mumbai High, India.

In a deal worth US $388 million, Indian-based Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has given the go ahead for the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) to develop the C-Series field in Mumbai High, India.

“We last month signed the contract with NPCC,” said a senior ONGC official.

The project is part of the C-Series development scheme approved by the ONGC Board on September 8, with an investment of US $716 million.

Phase one of the C-Series redevelopment programme will involve fabrication and installation of four new wellhead platforms (C-22, C-24, C-39-I and C-39-A), modification of the existing NQG platform, and the laying of a 185-kilometre sub-sea pipeline.

In early 1990, ONGC discovered gas and associated condensate in the C-Series field, which is located 60 km west of Daman in the Tapti Daman block of Mumbai Offshore region.

The project is due to be completed by April 20, 2008, while the phase one development drilling programme is expected to be finished by the end of 2008.

In 2005, ONGC also awarded its four wellhead platforms project-2 to NPCC under a contract worth US $200 million. This project is presently under execution and will be completed by April 2007.
