Obesity clinic looks at insulin

A new anti-obesity clinic has opened at Dubai Healthcare City. WeightCare Clinic will offer a treatment method that looks at the level of insulin in a person's blood stream. The technique was developed by Dr. Naji Torbay and is based on his experience with 22,000 patients over 27 years as an endocrinologist. "Excess insulin is known to induce increased appetite and trigger higher fat deposition. There are many techniques to identify whether a patient is insulin resistance but I chose to use a blood test under fasting conditions. Once the results are established, the appropriate treatment is prescribed depending on whether the patient is gaining weight from carbohydrates or fats," said Dr Torbay.
