Oil companies in Kuwait have been ordered to halt all appointments, promotions and transfers until further notice as part of standard protocol in line with the parliament’s dissolution.

The move was made to ensure transparency and guarantee no violations take place, sources told local media.

Vacant positions will therefore not be filled until a new parliament is elected on November 26.

Moreover, the Petrochemical Industries Company will close its fertilizers’ plants between December 2017 and March 2018, it said in an open letter to employees.

During that period, the firm will transfer 360 national employees to other sectors and assign 580 expat workers to other roles.
