Oman awards water deal to Iran's SUNIR Group

Water supply construction contract worth OR28.9m ($75.06m) - tender board official.

Oman has awarded Iran's SUNIR Group a water supply construction contract worth OR28.9 million ($75.06 million), a tender board official said on Monday.

"SUNIR will build the water supply network in Jabal Al Akhdhar at Nizwa," the tender board official told Reuters.

The Iranian group outbid China's Synohydro and Hyundai Engineering of South Korea, he said.

Oman is investing heavily on water to overcome shortages in the expanding urban areas for its 3 million people, a third of which is comprised of foreign workers. (Reuters)
