Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working on developing an integrated fruit, vegetable and livestock central market in Salalah.

The appropriate location for the project has already been determined and all the required environmental approvals have been sought, Times of Oman reported.

The Dhofar Municipality will issue the tender, inviting the private sector to invest in the project.

In September 2016, the Ministerial Committee of Food Safety had discussed three alternatives for the establishment of the central market finalising the location in Al Suwaiq. The project is expected to forge a connection between the market and the Al Suwaiq port for the entry of livestock in the future.
