Integrated Telecommunications Oman designates new board members ahead of formal launch later this year

Oman's TeO says to launch MVNO, VoIP services in 2015

Integrated Telecommunications Oman, also known as TeO, has said that it plans to launch mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services in Oman later this year.

The company said in a statement that it has designated new members to its board in anticipation of a formal launch.

TeO said it holds multiple telecommunication licenses issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, adding that it has "a vision to bring innovative telecommunications and technology solutions for the corporate, government and consumer sectors in Oman".

Suleiman bin Mohamed bin Hamed Al Yahyai, chairman of TeO, said: "We believe Oman is one of the most exciting markets in the region today catering to a young, tech-savvy population who seek smarter and more effective ways to stay in touch with the world.

"Our challenge will be to constantly innovate and add value to their communications and technology experience. In our journey, His Majesty's grand vision of transforming Omani society into a digital society will be our guide."

On the role of TeO in the market, Gurkan Ozturk, CEO, added: "We look forward to complement existing networks to provide affordable, high-quality and easy-to-use telecommunications services to individuals and booming SME sector.

"We have just started our journey, but plan to move ahead rapidly. In the coming weeks, look out for the unfolding of our new corporate identity, which will reflect our vision and values."

A MVNO is a wireless communications services provider that does not own the wireless network infrastructure over which the MVNO provides services to its customers. An MVNO enters into a business agreement with a mobile network operator to obtain bulk access to network services at wholesale rates, then sets retail prices independently.
