Omantel boosts corporate services

Omantel has launched asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) services, boosting its datacomms offering for the corporate sector.

Omantel has launched asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) services, boosting its datacomms offering for the corporate sector.

The monopoly operator plans to target large private and public organisations with ATM-based services and solutions, including virtual private networks (VPNs), virtual leased lines, and transparent local area networks (LANs).

According to Omantel, Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH), Bank Muscat, National Bank Oman and Oman Arab Bank have agreed deals for solutions.

The MoH is already using the technology to connect five public hospitals to its headquarters and support e-health and e-learning services.

The ATM service will also form part of a new portfolio of datacomms solutions that Omantel is planning to offer.

The operator also says it is close to launching MPLS-based managed VPNs.
