The European oil and gas group OMV has increased its total gas sales in the Pakistani gas field Sawan from 56700 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) to 66700 boe/d. The company said this was made possible by plant modifications and the drilling of further wells. OMV has invested approximately US $350 million in overall field development to date.
The extended plant, located in the Sindh Province in the central Indus Basin, was commissioned in December 2006 and has now reached its new capacity. OMV supplies 16% of Pakistan's natural gas demand.
