GITEX: France Telecom arm unveils deals with Carrefour, Solidere, United Arab Shipping.
Orange Business Services, the business services arm of France Telecom, has won three "multi-million dollar" communications networking deals in the Middle East, the company announced on Sunday.
Unveiled at the Gitex technology exhibition being held in Dubai, Orange said it has signed agreements with retail giant MAF Carrefour, Lebanon's Solidere and Kuwait-based United Arab Shipping Co.
Orange said it has been awarded a four-year network and managed services contract by Carrefour to connect its 30 sites in the Middle East to Orange Business Services.
Orange described it as the biggest deal of its kind won by the company in the region.
"This network and managed services contract with MAF Carrefour reinforces the importance of global and regional reach when it comes to connectivity solutions for multi-national and large regional corporations," Lionel Reina, Orange Business Services vice president for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMEA), said in a statement.
Orange said it has signed a three-year deal with United Arab Shipping to install a wide area network (WAN) that links 28 of the shipper's international sites in North America and Europe and 10 sites in the Middle East.
In Lebanon, Orange said it is launching the country's first internet protocol (IP) TV service with Solidere. The company said it is the first commercially available IP TV service in the Middle East.
