Agreement renewed as OSN prepares to announce corporate overhaul next week
Dubai-based pay-TV provider OSN has extended its deal with Disney to exclusively air Disney TV channels to viewers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, it announced on Wednesday.
The extended deal ensures OSN maintains exclusive rights to Disney Channels, including programmes on Disney XD, Disney Junior and Disney Channel HD.
OSN said it would continue to offer an extensive selection of blockbuster movies and popular series, but the deal also sees OSN launch four new products – Disney Channel Pop Pick Play, Disney Forever, Disney English and Disney Channel Hindi.
The renewed deal also covers the first pay-for movies from across the Walt Disney Studios, and coverage of the Academy Awards®.
A dedicated Disney-branded HD movie channel is to be launched early next year, OSN said, as well as a ‘Disney Forever’ on-demand service in the coming months, featuring classic Disney movies and entertainment.
Emad Morcos, chief content officer at OSN, said: “We are continuing to build on our strong collaboration with Disney through an even wider range of content that appeals to family and kids.
“The quality of Disney entertainment is unbeatable and the addition of more On Demand anytime, anywhere shows will offer added choices for our customers.
“Our long-term partnership with Disney is industry-defining as it raises the bar in home entertainment and brings even more value for our subscribers.”
The pay-TV provider is preparing to launch a new corporate strategy next week – thought to be the company’s most radical overhaul in years.
