Overhaul brings Al Diar Siji up to standard

Five-star business hotel Al Diar Siji gains HACCP certification.

Al Diar Siji Hotel Fujairah, a five-star business hotel managed by Abu Dhabi National Hotels, received its HACCP certification last month following a six-month overhaul of its food and beverage services, facilities and procedures.

The certification was awarded by international certification and assessment provider BSI Management Systems.

"We started implementing HACCP by establishing a pre-requisite programme focusing on effective and auditable guidelines, polices, and procedures for the employees," explained, the hotel's HACCP team leader, F&B manager Ghyath Fawaz.

"This was followed by implementing the seven HACCP principles. It took us about six months to establish and implement the whole system," he added.

The certification is expected to boost the hotel's business through "the newly improved supervisory skills of the staff, their increased job satisfaction, and the enhanced image of company", according to general manager Fouad Melhem.

"[The HACCP certificate is one of the most sought-after accreditations in the foodservice industry and we are proud to be one of the first five-star hotels in UAE to be HACCP compliant," he said. "The certificate is proof that we are committed to providing excellent service and world-class standards."

Al Diar Siji also succeeded in renewing its BS EN ISO 9001:2000 certification for 2008, a standard that it has held since 2005. This was further confirmation of the efficiency of the property's F&B quality management systems added Melham.

"It is our goal to always give our customers excellent hospitality service and food and beverage at the highest quality," he concluded.
