American reality TV star Paris Hilton is looking to buy a home in Dubai, it was reported.

The hotel heiress, who was in the emirate to attend the opening of new restaurant Clé Dubai, said she was looking to expand her portfolio of real estate after recently buying New York and Dubai was high on her radar.

“The other day I was looking out at the view, seeing all these incredible buildings and thinking ‘I wish I could find a place here’. I love it, I think it’s such a cool place to come to. It’s special, it has a great energy, I love the people — there’s so much going on,” she told The National newspaper.

Hilton has several branded retail outlets across Dubai and the wider Gulf and five years ago she filmed the fourth and final incarnation of the “My New BFF” franchise where she searched for her new best friend in the Middle East. Filming took place in 2009 and after many delays, this season premiered on MTV in several countries during April, 2011.

She was also reportedly in talks to design a hotel in the emirate but nothing ever materialised.

In a 2008 interview with Hollywood.tv, Hilton mentioned the possibility of developing "Paris Island" as a resort on Nakheel's The World development.

"I really want to get into real estate, so I feel like [Dubai] could be the hot place to do a Paris hotel," she said.

It seems to work quite well. South Asians seem to be more receptive to this though, I think westerners may have become jaded to endorsements

But even if you believe this, ask yourself if you want to have Paris as neighbor. I knew a guy who happened to be one of Mick Jagger's neighbor in the lat 70s and it was not an enjoyable experience.
