Parsons Brinckerhoff has been awarded the consultancy contract for the Dubai Metro's Purple Line, a source close to the project confirmed.
The 49-kilometer-long line will be built along Al Khail Road, which falls between Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.
The company will carry out planning, design and construction management for the project.
The Purple Line will operate as an express line linking Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali Airport, which is currently being built within Dubai World Central.
The exact route of the network will be studied as part of Parsons' contract.
The Purple Line will be in addition to the planned Blue Line, which will run along Emirates Road and will also connect the airports.
A tender for the Blue Line consultancy is expected to be issued at the end of March. For all the latest construction news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
