Parsons Brinckerhoff has been awarded the consultancy contract for the Dubai Metro's Purple Line.

The 49km-long line will be built along Al Khail Road, which falls between Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.

"We are carrying out the planning, design and construction management for the project," said Amer Khan, business development associate (manager, transport and urban planning - Middle East), Parsons Brinckerhoff.

The Purple Line will operate as an express line linking Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali Airport. The exact route of the network will be studied as part of Parsons' contract.

The Purple Line will be in addition to the planned Blue Line, which will run along Emirates Road and will also connect the airports.
