Airline merger given all-clear

The USA’s Justice Department has announced that it has reached an agreement to permit American Airlines and US Airways to merge, creating the world's biggest airline. The department said it would back the $11bn combination, which would welcome 140m passengers each year, employ 90,000 full time workers, and 951 airplanes.
