Dubai's Heritage Village lights up for UAE's National Day
Fireworks light up Dubai Creek as Emiratis and expats celebrate 40th anniversary
Thousands of people gathered at the Heritage Village on Dubai Creek to take part in celebrations for the UAE's 40th National Day anniversary. Green light, representing one of the colours of the UAE flag, is shone onto the water in Dubai Creek. The celebrations started with a show about the UAE's history since the days of pearl diving and fishing, followed by a sound and light show that was displayed on the sails of dhow ships sailing the creek back and forth, accompanied by orchestrated traditional music. A flame and laser show started on a sailing boat, followed by fireworks that lit up Dubai's sky, including a formation of the number 40. More light displays on Dubai Creek. Boats travelling along Dubai Creek are lit up by a light show to celebrate the UAE's 40th National Day. There's a large central fort and tower which overlooks the Dubai Heritage Village.
