Festive style inspiration from Dubai’s fashion-driven ladies
From emerald gowns to faux fur, here are style tips for the city’s holiday season
The holidays are not the same without a game of dress up. That’s why we picked festive looks from Dubai’s most stylish crowd. Because Dubai’s winter is not too chilly, opt for an outfit that can go from winter to summer. Founder of personal style blog, Vogue Overdosed, Ghalia Mahmoudi, pairs a basic Balmain tee with a warm winter jacket. Leather jackets have long been a winter style staple, but leather coats are the new trend. Boutique owner and fashion consultant Hannah Al Rasekh shows that you need to keep it simple when it comes to leather. Make up guru and founder of the Huda Beauty brand, Huda Kattan, sports a holiday makeup look with an eye-catching highlighter and dark red lips. It’s perfect for Christmas or New Year. This look by model and TV presenter, Jessica Kahawaty, is our favourite for fancy festive occasions. Because the dress is a statement on its own, she pairs it with simple diamonds and an old Hollywood hairdo. The best thing about lifestyle blogger Karen Wazen’s look is that it’s classy – something that’s hard to acquire when thigh high boots are involved. She proves that a sweater dress is the boots’ best pairing. Lawyer and founder of fashion and beauty brands, Lilly Ghalichi, spells out “Glamour” with this ensemble. It doesn’t get better than diamonds, faux fur, and a black gown for festive celebrations. We love Dubai fashion blogger Ola Farahat’s winter essentials. A Louis Vuitton scarf is always on our winter wish list. Doesn’t it go with everything? We had to include another look by Lilly Ghalichi, just because it’s a go-to, last minute, festive get-up. She shows that the best way to wear a statement green coat is by pairing it with all black basics. Emerald seems to be in this season, as another style guru, fashion blogger Deema Al Asadi, sports an off-the shoulder tailored number. The colour is number one on our festive choice list. We’d give anything to be where TV presenter Diala Makki is – enjoying a hot drink in the middle of Paris. While her outfit deems too warm for Dubai, we do recommend it for those travelling during the holidays. It’s hard to pull off an outfit like Dana Wolley’s. Why? It entails thigh high leather boots, a mini skirt, and a collar – but it still looks classy! Wolley is the founder of Dubai-based fashion and jewellery brand, Wayed Vintage. Hannah Al Rasekh frosts herself with Dubai jewellery brand, Nadine Shami. Aren’t these jewels the perfect accessories for winter celebrations? Another look by Deema Al Asadi is a go-to Christmas number. The A-line skirt and slightly off the shoulder top never go out of style. Finally, if it’s windy outside and you’re having a bad hair day, throw on a beanie like Karen Wazen and you’re good to go – just don’t forget your statement designer bag.
