German defense minister testifies at Bundestag hearing

German Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere has testified at the Bundestag commission hearings over the Euro Hawk defense contract. The German government cancelled the military drone project, which had already consumed EUR562m ($739m) due to complications with domestic flight certification. The affair has put pressure on German Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere prior to federal elections scheduled for September.
