Dubai's famous landmarks were barely visible for much of Friday as gale force winds kicked up sand and dust into the air. Winds gusting up to 65 kilometres an hour (kph), knocking over flag polls and other objects. Brave surfers head to the water to try and catch a wave in Dubai. The met office predicted waves could reach up to 18 feet off the UAE coast. It was slow going on the roads as the high winds and sand in air reduced visibility. Construction sites were hit by the strong winds, many had boarding blown over. The winds even uprooted small trees across Dubai left branches scattered across the city's streets. A number of the advertising boards that adorn Sheikh Zayed Road and other streets were damaged in the storm. Those who did brave the harsh weather wrapped up warn due to the winds and cold temperatures.
