The Collection was officially launched in May at the world-renowned Concorso D’Elegenza at Villa D’Este, on the shores of Lake Como, one of Italy’s famous lakes and directly adjacent to Lake Maggiore where Campbell famously established his legend.

It celebrates Sir Malcolm Campbell’s seminal act. On September 1, 1937, he headed out onto Lake Maggiore on the Swiss-Italian frontier and set the world waterspeed record of 203.3 kph in a Rolls-Royce-powered Bluebird K3 hydroplane boat.

The Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection features a number of personalised features and never used before materials on a Rolls-Royce. Its brushed steel complements an custom developed Maggiore Blue colour scheme. Hand-crafted wood inlays replicate a boat’s interior.

Rolls-Royce says that it will take over 80 hours for a craftsman to manufacture and hand brush each car’s brushed steel deck. The coachline, complete with Bluebird motif, will take another four hours to hand-craft using a squirrel-hair brush.

The three cars are now available at Abu Dhabi motors and AGMC, the official dealers of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the UAE, for $710,000 (AED 2.6m).
