Office chic from Fashion Forward
Take a look at the best work attire from Dubai’s top fashion designers at the city’s most influential fashion event
Dubai’s most recognised fashion event, Fashion Forward, offers UAE-based designers to showcase their talents. But it’s the visitors who really benefit. Why? Because they get to do their shopping through live runways. And that’s exactly what we did. We picked the top 10 pieces that as businesswomen, we’d just love to own and wear to the office! We couldn’t keep our eyes off of this Jelena Bin Drai floral design. Some may argue that it’s too embellished for the office, but life’s too boring to wear plain office wear. We say get rid of the sheer cape and sport this with a bun and formal heels. You can even add a sleeveless blazer if you’re heading to meetings. We love this maroon-shaded suit from Bouguessa’s presentation. It looks like something out of Paris’ Fashion Week’s street wear. Its cut is modern and formal but its colour and neck choker give it a feminine feel. We’d definitely sport this to the office. On another note, suits for women don’t have to be a perfect fit, the lose shape of this one gives it a cooler, effortless vibe. A third favourite is another design by Jelena Bin Drai. Who doesn’t love an all-white office look? The intricately designed cape and top give a playful twist on the tailored bottoms, though the pants’ light and airy fabric also gives them a feminine feel. A little black dress for the office? Yes please. And Nasiba Hafiz’ number is a pretty impressive option. It’s short, but not too short to wear to work. It’s sheer, but not too revealing to wear to meetings. We have three words for this dress: gorgeous, gorgeous, and gorgeous. Kristina Fidelskaya has a talent for mixing classic cuts with edgy touches. This coat-dress is mature in print and feminine in cut, yet has a racy middle slit. We love the white lace dress underneath, too. If you cover the hint of skin revealed around the waist area in this Lama Jouni outfit, you’ll notice that the creation is perfect for the office. The tailored white pants and sleeveless, modern blazer have a formal yet modern feel. This piece by Sotra is our top pick from the list for any businesswoman. The blazer-inspired neckline gives a powerful vibe while the low thigh-slit gives just enough femininity. We also love the flowy nature of the fabric. Despite a slightly revealing neckline, this creation by Kristina Fidelskaya is still office-appropriate thanks to the tailored pants and sleeveless blazer. Add a statement necklace and you’re good to go! While we don’t recommend wearing this two Jelena Bin Drai pieces together, we love them separately as fancy work attire – especially the skirt. Its pencil shape is traditional for work but the hint of red gives it a playful look. We’re slightly obsessed with Kristina Fidelskaya’s designs. Can you blame us? They’re so office appropriate yet playful at the same time. For example, opt for a racy top under this classic white cap and transform your work outfit to a nightly one.
