California-based OnLive has launched a service that allows on-demand access to the latest and most advanced titles.
Using an inexpensive MicroConsole, users can connect any television set to the OnLive Game Service through a home broadband connection. Gamers can also enjoy the same experience on a PC or Mac via a small browser plug-in from OnLive.com
The MicroConsole is operated using powerful wireless controller – imagine hooking it up and vanquishing aliens on a 42 inch plasma!
The OnLive Game Service supports a live community – giving fans the chance to watch thousands of live games in action, join in at any point, share their exploits with friends through social networking tools or make ‘Brag Clips’ to show off their skills.
OnLive is supported by many top publishers in the industry including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive Software, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, THQ Inc., Epic Games, Eidos, Atari Interactive and Codemasters.
The service uses video compression and cloud computing technology to deliver the latest, high-end titles to subscribers. Monthly subscriptions will be made available in winter 2009.
