Stylish in the rain: how to dress for this weather
We’ve got the tips and tricks to keep you looking sharp – and dry
We know the rain won’t last too long in Dubai, but just in case, here are some tips on how to dress for this kind of weather. A classic trench coat: We finally have a reason to wear trench coats in Dubai – so take them out of your closets and make the most of them, because summer is almost here ladies and gentlemen. And you won’t be needing them then, that’s for sure. Timberland boots: It’s usually too hot to sport Timberland boots in Dubai, but considering most of them are water-proof, now is the time to wear them. Don’t be turned off by their signature brown shoes, the brand does different colours and styles. Brimmed hat: We love large hats in summer, but they come in handy in winter too, especially when rain is involved. Almost all hat fabrics dry out quickly and protect your hair from getting wet. Hear that ladies? A canvas tote bag: A canvas tote bag is probably your best bet when it comes to rainy days. It’s easy to carry and most are made out of water-repellent fabric, like this Givenchy Rottweiler Antigona number. Rubber running shoes: In case you have to run if a storm comes your way. Jokes aside, running shoes have been in style for seasons and they make the perfect shoes for rainy days as they don’t get ruined and they’re easy to jump over puddles in! We recommend Nike for those as the brand makes a ton of colourful ones. Fur: Animal fur is naturally repellent of water, which is why most animals don’t normally mind being in the rain. Unless your fur is totally immersed in water, it’s safe to wear it under the rain. However, do let it air dry afterwards as opposed to playing it under direct sunlight or heat. This will prevent any damage. Ditch the jeans and opt for polyester: Jeans usually take longer to dry than fabrics like polyester and linen. We recommend putting them away on rainy days. Another thing about jeans is that their colour fades if they come in contact with water. That’s why it’s not recommended to wash your jeans often. Linen suits: As we’ve mentioned earlier, linen dries faster than other fabric. And frankly, linen suits are the ultimate life-saviour when it comes to rain. Have a meeting and don’t want to attend it soaking wet? Linen suits are your answer, like this Canali one.
