Components distributor eSys has had its contract with optical disk drive specialist Pioneer extended to include the Middle East and Turkey. Until now, the pair's agreement had only covered the European market.
Pioneer says its decision to allow eSys, which has its MEA head office in Dubai, to sell its range of optical disk drives into the Middle East region follows the distributor's performance since their pan-European alliance was established last September.
Mark Littlechild, senior manager multimedia division at Pioneer Europe, is hoping eSys will be able to repeat the success it has enjoyed in Europe by reaching out to PC assemblers and resellers across the MEA territory. "Since the start of our business partnership a few months ago, eSys has become one of our top distributors," revealed Littlechild. "We have now decided to expand their contract to include Turkey and the Middle East as they are a proven partner who can help us expand our footprint in these very important markets."
Recently-appointed eSys EMEA boss, Nigel Edwards (pictured), insists the contract extension is vital to the distributor's strategy of widening its portfolio. "We are committed to ensuring that eSys continues to work with a wide range of vendors and expanding our business with Pioneer adds further credibility to our ability," he said.
Pioneer is an established brand in the optical disk technology market after bringing LaserDisc, the precursor to DVD, to the market more than 25 years ago. The company also claims that it introduced the first Blue-ray disc writer for home computer users to the market last year. For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
