Bids for a US $600 million (IDR5.4 trillion) pipeline linking Riau and North Sumatra will be invited next year.

“The pipeline will connect with the two pipelines linking South Sumatra and West Java,” Sutikno, president of state-owned gas utility PT Perusahaan Gas Negara told the Jakarta Post.

The 360km pipeline, which will transmit between 200 million and 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) from Duri in Riau, to Medan in North Sumatra, is expected to come onstream by the end of 2007.
