Plans for fourth Metro rail link

Plans are under review for a fourth line to be added to the Dubai Metro system

Plans are under review for a fourth line to be added to the Dubai Metro system.

If given final approval, the new line would be in addition to the US $2.3 billion (AED8.4 billion) Red and Green lines and the $2.21 billion Blue line.

No decision has been made on which route the new line would take, how long it would be or how much it would cost.

“There are plans in the pipeline — they are at the conceptual stage — but we can’t really go into more detail at the moment,” said a spokesperson from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

The Mitsubishi-led Dubai Rapid Link consortium was recently awarded the $1.1 billion contract to build the Green Line.
