Plans unveiled for 19-screen cinema in Dubai

The Middle East’s Novo Cinemas has announced plans for a 19-screen multiplex in Dubai.

The cinema will be the entertainment anchor of a planned extension of the Wafi Mall by developer MKM Commercial Holdings.

Novo Cinemas has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to build 200 additional screens across the region by 2016.

Novo Cinemas Wafi Mall will showcase a new IMAX three-dimensional cinema theatre equipped with IMAX laser technology.

Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, chief executive of Novo Cinemas, said: “The planning phase of our Wafi Mall project took us around the world, exploring the most advanced concepts to appear on the cinema entertainment landscape, and into the heart of the modern cinema-goer.

“We are very excited to join hands with the forward-thinking developers of Wafi Mall to bring patrons a cinema experience they will not find anywhere else in the Middle East.”

And David May, managing director of MKM Group, said, "We are delighted that Wafi as a destination featuring both numerous award winning restaurants, Raffles Hotel, quality shopping and outstanding fitness and spa facilities will be further strengthened as a destination with the addition of Novo’s state of the art entertainment technology.”
