Saudi Arabia cuts recruitment charges for Filipino domestic workers

Recruitment charges in Saudi Arabia for domestic workers from the Philippines have been reduced by 50 percent.

According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency, who quoted sources from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, a Filipino domestic worker can be hired by spending SR8,850 ($2,360) – half the existing charge, plus VAT.

A new service, Maaroufah, has been launched to help with recruitment and provide services to Saudi citizens and expats who are looking to hire domestic help from the Philippines.

The recruitment process will take a maximum period of 45 days under the new system, provided the name of the worker is chosen by the citizen.

Once all the information is received about the worker – name, passport number and worker’s contact number via the Musaned portal, the new service will be linked to the best licensed recruitment offices to receive and process the recruitment procedures.

The service provider will be automatically selected by the system in accordance with the proximity of the citizen’s place of residence to the city where the office of the service provider is operating.

This service is limited only to the Musaned portal, which allows browsing over 1,000 recruitment companies and offices that offer comparatively reasonable charges for their services as well as to know the performance criteria of the service providers.
