Over the last several days, detections of confirmed Covid-19 cases have spiked in Kuwait
Kuwaiti authorities will impose a new curfew from Sunday, May 10 through May 30 as part of its efforts to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the state-run Kuna News Agency said on Friday.
On Twitter, government spokesperson Tareq Al Mizrem said that the decision was taken following the recommendation of Kuwaiti health authorities.
The curfew will begin at 4pm..
Over the last several days, detections of confirmed Covid-19 cases have spiked in Kuwait.
On Friday, for example, authorities announced 641 new cases – the single highest tally recorded in the country since the pandemic began.
Kuwait’s total now stands at 7,028, including 47 dead.
Globally, there have been over 4 million confirmed cases of Covid-19, including more than 276,000 deaths.
More than 1.38 million people have recovered from the disease.
