Oman has detected 327 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Sultanate, the country announced on Thursday.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Oman now stands at 6,370.

According to the state-run Oman News Agency (ONA), the country’s death toll is 30.

Additionally, Omani health authorities have recorded 1,821 recoveries.

Earlier this week, Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni, undersecretary for health affairs at the Ministry of Health, said that Oman has not reached the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

Speaking to Oman TV earlier in the week, Dr. Al Hosni said that the ministry’s most extreme projections forecast that the number of daily positive cases will peak at 1,500 per day, of which 500 will need to be hospitalised and 150 will need intensive care.

Globally, there have been over 5.1 million cases of Covid-19, including over 330,000 deaths.

Over 2 million people have recovered from the virus.
