Covid-19: Oman announces 1,142 new cases

Omani authorities have detected 1,142 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the sultanate, it was announced on Wednesday.

According to government statistics, Oman’s total number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 33,536.

To date, 142 deaths have been recorded as a result of the disease.

Additionally, 17,972 patients have recovered.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was announced that Oman’s government will offer interest free-loans to help small and medium-sized firms and other business owners that have suffered losses as a result of the pandemic.

Earlier in the pandemic, Oman already trimmed its budget spending and announced liquidity support to provide some relief. The country has also discussed the possibility of financial aid from its GCC neighbours, according to media reports.

Globally, there have been more than 9.38 million confirmed cases of Covid-19, including over 480,000 deaths and 5 million recoveries.
