Expatriate residents will be notified via official channels if the policy changes

Expats cannot return to Saudi Arabia until after pandemic, government body says

Expatriates living in Saudi Arabia that are currently abroad will only be allowed to return to the kingdom after the Covid-19 pandemic ends, according to the General Directorate of Saudi  Passports (Jawazat).

The statement – which came via Twitter – noted that there will be “no entry for expat residents until the end of the pandemic.”

“You will not be allowed to return till the end of the coronavirus pandemic crisis, and the decision on return will be announced officially, and under a valid entry visa,” the authority said. “In case a resident is outside the kingdom, the mechanism for extending the exit and return visa will be announced through official channels after the end of the coronavirus pandemic crisis.”

To date, there have been over 164,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the kingdom, including 1,346 deaths and more than 109,000 recoveries.
