About 5,710 expats have been deported from Bahrain since the beginning of 2016 due to violations of residency laws, according to the Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs (NPRA).
The figure includes 351 illegal expat workers who were detained during inspection campaigns, reported Bahrain News Agency.
The campaigns were launched following orders from the Interior Ministry Undersecretary for NPRA, according to the Assistant Undersecretary of Ports, Search and Follow Up.
As part of the campaigns, citizens were asked to avoid the employment of illegal workers and instead report them to authorities.
