Bahrain inflation eases slightly to 3.2%

Annual inflation falls despite 1% increase in consumer prices on higher food costs.

Annual inflation in Bahrain fell slightly to 3.2 percent in September and consumer prices advanced almost 1 percent from the month earlier on higher food costs, government data showed on Sunday.

The consumer price index of the smallest Gulf Arab economy rose to 108.4 points on Sept. 30 compared with 105.05 points a year earlier, the Central Informatics Organisation said in a statement.

Consumer prices in September rose 0.84 percent from August, the data showed. The body attributed the rise in inflation to higher food prices and school fees. (Reuters)
