Reports suggesting Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is preparing to swap Sandringham for a palace in Abu Dhabi are “not true,” a source close to the family has told Arabian Business.
James Henderson, longtime PR adviser to Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson said he does not believe the royal, who is eighth in line to the British throne, is relocating to the United Arab Emirates, contrary to recent claims published in The Sun and other UK tabloid media.
“These stories are simply not accurate,” Henderson, who is UAE-based, told Arabian Business. “I don’t think this is the case.” He clarified that while he advises Ferguson, he does not represent Andrew, but is “speaking as a friend of the family.”
The British tabloid press had reported the 65-year-old royal was preparing to move abroad following King Charles III’s decision to strip him of remaining royal titles and privileges. The Sun claimed Andrew had been “offered a 16,000-square-foot palace” in Abu Dhabi, citing unnamed sources.
According to those reports, the supposed new residence allegedly featured six en-suite bedrooms, a private cinema and extensive security, suggesting the disgraced royal could enjoy a “life of luxury” away from public scrutiny.
However, Arabian Business understands there is no truth to those claims. Henderson dismissed the speculation, adding there were no plans or preparations for a permanent move to the Emirates.
The rumours follow a turbulent few years for the former Duke of York, who retreated from public life after his association with the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Reports that he was seeking refuge overseas have surfaced repeatedly, often without confirmation.
