Moda Al-Khalaf says she will sue individuals

A female Saudi diplomat who was accused on twitter of corruption has said she will sue the people behind the tweets, the Saudi Gazette reported.

Moad Al-Khalaf had been working as an assistant to the Saudi cultural attache in Washington. However, after he contract was terminated, the paper reported she was subjected to several abusive tweets alleging she had been involved in financial and ethical corruption.

The tweets claimed she had been sacked because she had opened a restaurant in which she employed Saudi scholarship students.

“I was not relieved from my post. I was assigned to work in the attache for four years, which were extended by two more years. I was informed about the end of my mission about six months ago,” she told the paper, adding that she does own a restaurant near the attaché, which she has named Al-Dirah (home village).

“I have not violated the system by opening this restaurant,” she added.
