Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled a new strategy aimed at doubling Dubai’s Emirati families within the next ten years.
The visionary UAE leader, who also marked 18 years since he assumed responsibility of the Council of Ministers on Thursday, outlined plans to enhance housing standards, healthcare, and overall quality of life for citizens under this initiative.
The emirate’s population currently stands at over 3.65 million, largely driven by its popularity among expats.
Through this new strategy, Sheikh Mohammed aims to increase the Emirati population as part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, a comprehensive plan for the community’s development over the next decade.
“Today we announce the launch of Dubai Social Agenda 33. It is our plan for Dubai’s community for the next ten years, with the slogan “Family, the Foundation of the Nation,” Sheikh Mohammed said in an X post.
“Its budget is AED208 billion over the next decade, aiming at the citizens of our families in Dubai – providing housing, improving living standards, identity, values, social cohesion, healthcare, and developing future skills in our upcoming generations.
“Our goal is to double the number of citizen families within the decade, providing them with the world’s best residential areas,” he added.
The key objective of the plan is to double the number of Emirati families in Dubai, ensuring they have access to the world’s best residential areas.
“Our homeland is not just numbers and structures; it is families and individuals,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
What is the Dubai Social Agenda 33?
The Dubai Social Agenda 33 includes several specific goals, such as establishing a world-class healthcare system, developing an education sector that ranks among the top ten globally, and tripling the number of Emiratis employed in the private sector.
The initiative also aims to cultivate a proactive social care system focused on the protection, care, and empowerment of citizens.
“The social agenda has clear goals, approved programmes, and allocated budgets, and my sons Hamdan, Maktoum, Ahmed, and their brothers will follow it. They are the people who care most about the large Dubai family in which they grew up and loved, and to which they are bound by bonds of love, affection, and blood,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
The Dubai Social Agenda 33 also envisions Dubai as one of the top three cities worldwide for living standards, with a life expectancy among the top ten globally.
The plan is underpinned by a recently announced AED65 billion housing programme, which will ensure Emiratis have access to quality homes over the next two decades. The programme aims to increase the number of citizens benefiting from it by 400 percent.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, had previously revealed that over 3,000 residential plots had been allocated to Emiratis living in the emirate, demonstrating the commitment to providing housing for citizens.
“We pray that God guides us in serving the country and its people,” Sheikh Mohammed said, adding “my message to all officials is that our priority in the coming period is the family – protection, empowerment, development and cohesion.”
