The MBC Group continues to dominate a big part of the media in the Arab world and Sheikh Waleed Bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim is the man behind the empire's success. Al-Ibrahim is the chairman and CEO of the group and the petson successfully launching the first-ever independent Arabic satellite TV station in 1991 and changing the face of Arab media for good.
MBC has since been joined by MBC 2, MBC 3 and MBC 4, which could be described as stations offering a wide variety of programmes with pan-Arab objectives. Al-Ibrahim further added to the MBC's success when he launched Al Jazeera's main competitive news channel Al Arabiya in March 2003.
For his 15-year contribution to Arab media and entrepreneurial ventures, Al-Ibrahim was awarded the Arab Media Luminary Award. He was born and raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, completed his higher education in the United States and returned to the Middle East to establish ARA Productions and Television Studios; his first endeavor in the world of media.
Today, MBC Group stands as the largest media and entertainment group in the Middle East, reaching more than 75 million Arab viewers and listeners across the world. For all the latest business news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
