President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan left the country today on a private visit, WAM reported on Saturday.

He had made his first public appearance on June 30 since suffering a stroke more than three years ago to mark the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

WAM news agency published pictures last week showing Sheikh Khalifa meeting a number of officials and rulers of the other emirates.

The guests had came to his Abu Dhabi palace on the first day of Eid, and Sheikh Khalifa appeared to be in good spirits, according to the pictures and a short video posted on WAM's Twitter account.

Sheikh Khalifa, 69, had not made a public appearance since the UAE announced that he underwent an operation following a stroke in January 2014.
