SQL

Structured Query Language is a database language that is the basis of many other structured languages such as MySQL. It is a database computer language used for managing data in a relational database management systems. Its scope includes data query and update, schema creation and modification, and data access control.

Javascript

Javascript is a Client-side scripting language used to develop many web apps. However, it can be used for a variety of other applications as well. It is incorporated into the likes of Jquery as well, a framework that condenses Javascript code.

Notepad ++

When it comes to programming, often all you need is a simple notepad. One of the most prolific and even simple tools out there is Notepad ++, a simple text editor that can be used to work on up to 48 programming, scripting and markup languages. It's open source, mature and free and you can download it from here.

A scripting language is used more to write scripts that then perform certain functions. A program is usually compiled code that is machine-readable, whereas scripting is human-readable. Ultimately, there's debate about whether there's a difference between these two, as they both involve giving computers instructions that are carried out.

Intel Extreme Masters

Dubai recently hosted the world's best gamers in the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge at Gitex 2009 with $31,500 prize money. total prize pool of no less than $530,000 makes it one of most lucrative video game tournament series of all time.

The prize pool of $31,500 for the Dubai leg was awarded to the winners of the Counter-Strike 1.6 and QuakeLive tournament. With the support of the creator of the Quake franchise, id Software, this involved the first ever QuakeLive event outside of Dallas, USA, making it a must for the global Quake elite to travel to the Middle East.

Among the teams participating in the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament were some of the most accomplished teams of the past years with mousesports, Winner of the World Championship 2008, fnatic, winner of the World Championship 2009 and SK, winner of the last Global Challenge that took place in early September 2009 in Chengdu.

Local QuakeLive players had the opportunity to take part as well, as the Global Challenge Dubai comes along with a free-to-enter QuakeLive Pro/Am Challenge.

But these Championships are not the only way for your shot at the massive prize pot: Winners of the Global Challenge Dubai were not only given the lion's share of the $31,500 Dubai prize pool, but a path directly for the world final of the Intel Extreme Masters

PES CUP

In 2009 Xbox 360, Konami, Pluto Games and Chevrolet joined forces to organise one of the biggest soccer gaming tournament in the Middle East, the First Official Konami Pro Evolution Soccer Cup.

The Konami PES Regional Cup took place in nine major cities across five Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

Each game was played one-on-one on the Xbox 360, with rounds 1 and 2 consisting of 10 minute matches, whereas the Quarter/Semi and final games were played for 30 minutes. The winners from each city won a cash prize, a chance to qualify for the final round in Dubai, and an air ticket and accommodation in Dubai.

"We are proud to have the support of 2 of the biggest names in gaming, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Konami, to bring an event of such magnitude to the gaming fans of the Middle East, this truly is taking gaming to the next level," said Rami El-Hussein, Managing Director Pluto Games. "We are expecting up to 5,000 players from across the region to compete against the best of the best leaving one winner with a total cash prize of a Chevrolet Cruze."
