Tenants switching to online app in face of coronavirus movement restrictions
UAE proptech start-up Urban has revealed a 60 percent increase in daily active users this month as more tenants look to secure a rental property online under the current coronavirus-induced movement restrictions.
As the country continues to enforce social distancing aimed at stemming the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus, tenants are using the online platform to search for and secure homes.
Urban said it saw a 92 percent rise in the number of offers submitted for listed properties on its app in the week to March 19.
Tala Nsouli, general manager of Urban, said: “As renters try to navigate the current Covid-19 environment, Urban helps them find their new home entirely online from the comfort of their own homes. Landlords need to adapt to this digital-first environment and consider innovative ways to market their properties.”
Nsouli also said they had noticed “modest reductions” in rents, but added: “it’s too early to tell, but naturally in these circumstances you might see short-term fluctuations”.For all the latest real estate news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
