UAE developer offers three month rent exemption for tenants

UAE developer Al-Husn Properties is waiving rent for its tenants for three months to help mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on families, the company has announced.

According to the company, the move will benefit more than 600 tenants, including those living in residential units and those renting out commercial spaces, warehouses and parking lots.

Tenants have also been exempt from being evicted.

The company has properties in both Dubai and Sharjah.

“It is a part of our civic duty to be with the UAE government’s efforts to support society and reduce its burden during the current situation,” said Mustafa Al Husseiny, Al Husn’s general manager. “The idea behind this initiative is to encourage other property owners to have a humanitarian approach toward tenants in this time of crisis.”

To take advantage of the offer, tenants can request that their building management hold off upcoming cheques and postpone deposit days. Those ready and able to pay all payments this year will be entitled to rent discounts the next time they renew their contracts.

Around the country, a number of firms have announced similar rent exemptions for their tenants during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In late March, for example, Sharjah Asset Management has announced a three-month exemption of rents for tenants in Souq Al Haraj and Souq Al Jubail.
