Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker says agreement 'could not have come at a better time'
Finnair and Qatar Airways have entered into a codeshare agreement, enabling new connections between the two airlines' networks as the Doha carrier launches new flights to Helsinki.
Finnair's AY code will be added to Qatar Airways' flights between Helsinki and Doha, as well as to flights between Doha and Muscat, Bahrain, the Seychelles and the Maldives, a statement said.
At the same time, Qatar's QR code will be added to Finnair flights between Helsinki and Stockholm Bromma, Billund, Gothenburg, Riga, Tallinn and Tartu. Finnair and Qatar both belong to the oneworld alliance.
"Finnair is looking forward to develop the partnership with Qatar Airways, and further strengthen oneworld alliance's strong position in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region. Both Finnair and Qatar Airways are world leading innovative airlines, and connecting our networks adds value to our passengers through the Helsinki and Doha hubs," said Juha Järvinen, chief commercial officer.
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker added: “Following the launch of our new route to Helsinki, this partnership could not have come at a better time for Qatar Airways.
"We are delighted to be aligned with Finnair through this codeshare partnership and through our oneworld relationship, which gives global passengers an even wider network to choose from when travelling on our airlines.”
Finnair flies between Asia, Europe and North America, carrying more than 10 million passengers annually and connecting 17 cities in Asia with more than 60 destinations in Europe.
