New flights to Romanian capital is part of Doha airline's push into Eastern Europe
Qatar Airways has announced plans to double the number of flights on its Doha to Bucharest route from this summer, enhancing the service from a daily to double-daily offering, in response to increased passenger demand to and from Romania.
After beginning the service five years ago, the daily scheduled service is set to increase to a 10 weekly offering from June 2 and to 14 flights per week from August 1.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the fifth anniversary since Qatar Airways commenced its direct flights to Bucharest by increasing our capacity and frequency on this route from a daily to double-daily service, connecting business and leisure passengers to Doha and onwards, through seamless transfers within one of the world’s newest airport.”
The Bucharest to Doha route is served by an Airbus A320 aircraft.
The new flights come as part of a push by the Doha carrier into Eastern Europe, with additional flights to Croatia, Hungary and Azerbaijan announced last month.
Qatar Airways is now in its 19th year of operations and operates a fleet of 177 aircraft flying to more than 150 business and leisure destinations across six continents.
