Doha-Auckland will be 207 miles longer than the record held by Emirates
Qatar Airways is set to overtake its Gulf rival Emirates for the longest non-stop commercial flight in the world when it launches its Auckland route later this year.
The airline confirmed its plan this week to launch the Doha-Auckland service on December 3 this year, which will surpass the Emirates route to the same New Zealand destination by 207 miles.
The 9,031 mile journey from Doha to Auckland is expected to take 17.5 hours, according to media reports, and will similarly be undertaken with the Boeing 777-200LR planes that Emirates deploys on its route.
